Dennis Holman - Class Of 1961

Dennis L. Holman

September 5, 1943 - December 19,1996

A funeral for Dennis LeRoy Holman of Lynden will be at 1:30 PM Monday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ferndale.

Mr. Holman died Thursday, December 19, 1996, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 53.

He was born September 5, 1943, to John and Clara Hellinger Holman in High Prairie, Alberta, although the family was living in Sunburst.  When the Texaco Refinery closed, the family moved to Anacortes after Dennis’ sophomore year at NTCHS.  After graduating from high school in Washington, he returned to Montana where he graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula in 1966.

Dennis participated in the Army ROTC Program while at the University of Montana and upon graduation was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, and initially stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.  He was then transferred to Tooele Army Depot, Tooele, Utah, where he met Susan Winter.  They were married November 8, 1968, in Salt Lake City.

After leaving the service Dennis returned to Montana.  He owned and operated The Cinderella Shop in Shelby for several years.  Following that, he began working as an import broker in Sweetgrass.  He and his family moved to Lynden, WA, in 1988 where Dennis worked as a customs broker for Norman J. Jensen Inc.

He was preceded in death hy his father.

Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughters Donica of Utah and Shira of Ncvada; sons Darin of Ferndale and Wynden, Jonathan and Trevor, all of the family home; his mother of Shelby, MT; sister Judy Ridenour; brother Richard Holman; and one grandchild.
