Benjamin McPhie

January 21, 1934 - September 8, 2022

Benjamin Yeaman McPhie, 88, passed away on September 8, 2022. Ben was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming, on January 21, 1934. He graduated from high school in Sunburst, Montana and immediately entered into the U.S. Navy, where he served in 1952 and 1953 during the Korean Conflict.

After Ben was discharged from the Navy he came to Sterling, Colorado, where he would meet his future wife, Marilyn Bogie. Ben worked for Slumberburger, where they traveled all across the country. Later he worked in the oil field and then finished his career at Cabelas, where he could share his passion of fishing and the outdoors.

Ben and Marilyn had four children; Steven McPhie (wife Leilani) of Sterling, Daniel McPhie (wife Tammy) of Sterling, David McPhie of Greeley, and Laura Ann Rittenhouse (husband Jeff) of Sterling, and adopted daughter Shari McPhie of Sterling.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents Ben and Flossie; step mother Millie, sister Dixie Lee, and his daughter Laura Ann.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, sons Steven, Daniel, and David, brother Robert McPhie, sister Shirley Burke, sister Carol Neinheiser, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and 3 great great great grandchildren.

There will be no formal service at Ben's request, but there will be a Celebration of Life luncheon on September 17, 2022 at Pioneer Park (West Pavilion) starting at 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
