Myrna Sandon - Class Of 1962

Myrna Sandon

July 30, 1941 - January 8, 2013

Myrna Sandon, 71 of Shelby, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at the Marias Care Center due to natural causes.

Viewing was held at Whitted Funeral Chapel Friday. Rosary was Friday at St. William’s Catholic Church, where the funeral mass was held on Saturday, Jan. 12. Burial was in the Sunburst Cemetery.

Myrna was born July 30, 1941, in Shelby, the eighth of nine children. She lived in Sunburst until she moved with her mother Sophie to Shelby in 1977. She was instrumental in keeping her mother living at home until her death in 1991. Myrna moved to Marias Care Center in April of 2003, where she lived until her passing.

She was a member of St. Thomas and St. William Catholic Churches and Royal Neighbors of America. She worked at PT Activities/Northern Gateway for many years. Her main objective in life was, “Where can we get the next cup of coffee, can of pop or tea?” She loved to socialize: Pat’s Diner and Howard’s Pizza were her favorite hangouts. She played Skip-Bo, Chicken Feet (dominos), and watched her favorite movies continually: Shirley Temple, Sound of Music and Wizard of Oz.

She will always be remembered for her love of babies. She was the one constant in all of our lives. Each generation of nieces and nephews remember her for just being Myrna. She was the most forgiving person I’ve ever known, never holding a grudge.

Survivors include her brothers, Armand (Cathy) Sandon of Phoenix and Paul Sandon of Sunnyville, CA; sisters, Louise Castle of Kennewick, WA, and Rosalie (Albert Lunda) Manley, Shelby; sister-in-law Pat of Great Falls; 24 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Myrna was preceded in death by parents Israel and Sophie (Emond) Sandon; brothers, Lionel Sandon, Freeman Sandon and Arthur Sandon; sister, Cherie Mallo; sisters-in-law Bonnie, Fay and Eleanor; and brother-in-law, Ray.

God bless you, Myrna, enjoy the coffee.
