Joe White (1958)

Little brother, you are still my closest companion, toughest competitor, truest friend, and constant inspiration--four decades and more beyond your passing. The pain has eased at last, but there will ever be that emptiness in my soul--the half of me that is you--until we meet in Heaven. You always got the biggest half of the candy bar, the girl we both liked, whatever prize we sought. I understood why, finally, when your life was cut so short. I don't mind a bit, buddy, you're welcome to it all. However--I must admit--I am envious still today when you come to call. In my dreams, you are ever young, strong, agile, and handsome. Thank you for never mentioning the decline you see in me, jowls giving way to gravity, faint memory, fading sight, and overweight. I look forward to God's promise--that day when once again I "..will run and not be tired." Yep, you just wait. The race will go on, brother. Love, Joe
