Danny was my uncle and was only ten years older than me. I have wonderful memories of Danny while I was growing up. Special memories are of Danny taking me horseback riding on grandpa's horse, Shortie, pulling me around the yard in a wagon for what seemed like hours and reading to me. I was lucky to have such a special uncle.
Danny McAlpine and I met when we were ten years old. From that time forward I considered him my best friend. I'm well aware that more than a couple dozen other guys still feel that way about Danny, too. He had a knack for making friends instantly and keeping them for life. His memory is our treasure.
Danny was a fun loving, happy man. He loved his kids and was a good daddy. His kids, Glenn and Gail and myself have been forever affected by his early death. He was only 34 when he died and I have always regretted that he hasn't been here to share my golden years and enjoy his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would have loved them so!
