Ed was the best big brother a guy could have and I always enjoyed the time that we spent together. I'll never forget the day that I was told by a neighbor girl that the police had been looking for me and wanted to tell me about my brothers death. My family had just returned from a labor day weekend camping trip, and our joy turned to immediate sorrow. My big brother is missed everyday.
Ed, Thank you for your service (Army) to our country and God Bless you and Maxine.

"Uncle ED"

What can I say. I love and miss you. My favorite memory of Uncle Ed was a time we were both at his kitchen table drinking a beer in Culbertson. It was shortly after dinner and we were into probably our second six pack. Neither one of us feeling much pain. Aunt Maxine was at the sink doing dishes and we started teasing her about something. Both of us thought we were funny as hell, but Maxine was tired and at the end of her patience with us.

One of us made a comment, and to this day I don't remember what it was, but Aunt Maxine took offense and promptly told the both of us off. Once she had finished, and leaving both Uncle Ed and I speachless, she stomped off to her room. Uncle Ed and I looked at each other, both of us scared to say anything, drank our beer, and went to bed.

I remember hearing Uncle Ed walking into his bedroom and asking Aunt Maxine in his nicest voice, "Everything OK, pud."

I never heard the rest of the conversation, but I remember the both of us getting up the next morning, making Maxing coffee, and being just as damn nice as we could. Of course Maxine was over her being mad at us, but she did muster the insight to make one more comment to us. "If I'd a known you two being assholes, and me telling you off would have gotten me coffee made in the morning, I'd a told the both of you off a long time a go."

I miss both Uncle Ed and Aunt Maxine dearly, and think of them often. Love you both.
