LaVelle (Fix) Black, passed away on September 9, 2011.  LaVelle, of Woodburn, OR, was born in Pendleton on October  29, 1935. She is survived by her husband, Leonard; daughter, Lenora; grandsons, Craig and Mark; and great-granddaughter, Adrianna.  LaVelle enjoyed travel, reading, needlework and puzzles. She was a career civil service employee and an early female supervisor at the Bureau of Land Management in Oregon. Memorial contributions may be made to support police service dogs, which were her passion.
