Cherie Sandon (Mallo) - Class Of 1958

Cherie Ann Mallo
 May 3, 19040 – November 21, 2005

SHELBY - Cherie Anne (Sandon) Mallo, 65, a secretary from Shelby, died of cancer Monday at a Great Falls hospital.

Rosary is 7 p.m. Friday at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby.  Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Williams Catholic Church in Shelby, with a luncheon to follow. Burial and graveside services are 2 p.m. in the Sunburst Cemetery.

Survivors Include her children Rory (Jennifer) Mallo, Cheri (Scott) Moench, Stephanie Mallo and H.J. (Karla) Mallo; sisters Louise Castle of Great Fall and Myrna Sandon and Rosalie Manley, both of Shelby; brothers Freeman Sandon of Shelby, Armand Sandon of Phoenix and Paul Sandon of Sunnyvale, CA; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Cherie passed away Nov. 21, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 3, 1940, in Shelby to Israel and Sophie (Emond) Sandon and was raised in the Sunburst area, where she graduated from high school. Cherie moved to California and worked as a reservationists and supervisor at TWA. She married Gary Mallo in 1960 and had four children. They later divorced and she moved back to Shelbv in 1974, where she worked at various jobs. She attended the Vo-Tech in Great Falls, where she earned an Associate's Degree in business. For the past 15 years she worked as a secretary for Toole County.

Cherie's favorite pastime was spending time in the mountains camping. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, playing piano, singing, picking huckleberries  and doing crossword puzzles. Her special joy was being with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church and participated in the Bible study group and taught CCD.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Lionel and Art Sandon.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Gift of Life Foundation in Great Falls.

Evelyn Gottfried (Wolfer) (1959)

Cherie was my dear friend and I miss her. We were known as Mutt and Jeff and had been close friends since grade school. Cherie had the biggest "heart".

I can never forget all the times we spent staying with Joyce Johnson.

Eunice Vasboe (Olson) (1958)

I had such a nice visit with Cherie at the last class reunion. I will miss her if I make it to the next one. I still intend to make it. Eunice Vasboe Olson
