Loretta Taft Schoendaller, 86, passed away Aug. 10, 2022, in Shelby, Mont.

Loretta’s memorial service will be on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church in Sunburst.

Loretta was born July 4, 1936, in Sunburst, to Frank and Myrtle Taft. She was the oldest of four children, Loretta, Verla, Ernie, Art. Upon graduating high school, Loretta attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash. She later met and married Jake Schoendaller and had three children (Tim, Debbie, and Greg). After her divorce she took on work as a bartender at the Sports Club to support her children and then later as a legal secretary for Aronow, Anderson, Beatty and Lee where she worked until she retired when she had her stroke in 2006.

Loretta was an avid golfer, bowler and loved to crochet, always knitting up blankets and washcloths for her family. She was quite the cat lover and there were always a cat or two (or three) lurking around the house. She also loved to play the piano and was always willing to play for at various social events. She also loved to play cribbage and would never turn down an opportunity to take you down in a game. In 1987 along with Rose Kluth, she managed the Golf Course Country Club for 12 seasons, during which time it was very prosperous.

Loretta suffered a major stroke in July 2006, but she recovered well enough to live on her own for one year, and then moved to the Heritage Center where she lived until her death. She was a wonderful mom, grandmother, aunt, cousin, etc. for the whole family. She had a very active and full life, and will be greatly missed.

Loretta is surviveed by her three children, Tim, Debbie (Brian) Stovall and Greg; two grandchildren, Tiffani, and Kendra; and one great-grandchild Savannah.

She is preceded by her parents.
