Virginia Schmidt (Jablonski) - Class Of 1940

Mrs. Eleanor Virginia (Ginny) Jablonski, 54, the wife of George G. Jablonski, died Sunday, October 9, 1977 in the Franklin, Pennslyvania Hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Sunburst, Montana, Dec 30 1922, she was the daughter of Carl and Ada (Byford) Schmidt. She spent her early life in Montana and other western states and trained as a registered nurse at St. John’s Nursing School, Carroll College, Helena, Montana.

After completing her training, she worked as a surgical nurse for several doctors in Nebraska, traveling with them on house call throughout the countryside and also working in a clinic.

On Nov 10, 1944, she entered the U.S. Army Nurses Corps and served in the European Theater of Operations under General George S. Patton. She was discharged from her World War II duty on May 20, 1946.

She was married to George G. Jablonski on June 21, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They later lived in Terre Haute, Indiana, returning to Milwaukee later before moving to Franklin, PA in 1966.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Benjamin (Theresa) Novak and Sandra L. Jablonski of State College; and Carol J. Jablonski, West Lafayette, Indiana; her mother, Mrs Carl (Ada) Schmidt, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and a sister, Mrs. George (Anna) Kathman of Superior, Nebraska.
