Bret Aklestad - Class Of 1984

Bret Allen Aklestad, 47, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, in Seaside, Ore.

 Bret was born on Nov. 18, 1965, in Chester to Lyle and Loretta (Fritz) Aklestad.

Bret was raised on the family farm at Sweetgrass. He was a hard worker, enjoying mechanics, driving truck and tractors and farm life. He attended Sunburst schools and graduated in 1984. Bret was good at sports, playing on the basketball team and football team, and then going to the lake house in Bigfork to enjoy waterskiing and having fun at the lake.

After graduation, he attended upholstery school in Portland. Bret upholstered for Automotive Upholstery Shops in Portland and Minneapolis. It was in Minneapolis where he met Diane Mazurek and their beautiful daughter, Isabel, was born on May 5, 1998. He was always a proud father.

Bret last worked at Beaverton, Ore., where he was known as an accomplished upholsterer and hard worker.

Bret is survived by his parents, Lyle and Loretta Aklestad of Bigfork; his daughter, Isabel Aklestad, of Royal Oak, Mich.; grandmother, Lillie Fritz, of Chester; stepgrandfather, Jerry Schreck, of Kalispell; sister, Debra lanniello, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; as well uncles, Gary Aklestad, Errol Fritz and Doug Aklestad; aunt, Elaine Keister; nephew, Michal Ianniello; niece, Nicole lanniello; and lots of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leonard Fritz and Carl Aklestad, and grandmother Helen Aklestad Schreck.

A memorial graveside service with interment of ashes was held June 15 at Bigfork Cemetery.

I didn't know Bret, but I am so sorry for your loss.  My prayers go out to Bret's family.
