Wallace B. Farbo

January 13, 1946 – October 27, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we want to remember the remarkable life of our dad, Wally. He was a man who lived his life to the fullest and left a permanent mark on the hearts of all who knew him. He left behind a legacy of passion, adventure, and a zest for life that will be cherished by family and friends forever.

Wally was raised on a farm in Sweetgrass, Mont. This small town held a special place in our dad’s heart. No matter where life took him, Sweetgrass was the compass guiding him back home. In his final months, Wally expressed a heartfelt desire to find eternal rest in the very land that witnessed his growth and passing seasons of his life.

Wally graduated from the University of Montana. A true Griz fan at heart, as fate would have it, the year of Wally’s passing coincides with both the Grizzlies and the Huskies making their mark in national championship games. To us, this is no coincidence.

Wally dedicated several years of his life to the trucking industry. Through determination and a passion for logistics, he became part owner of Consolidated Shippers, Inc. Wally played a pivotal role in transforming the company into a thriving force within the world of logistics and the freight-forwarding industry.

For us it’s important to remember the “DASH” – those moments in between the dates. Dad embraced hobbies and adventures throughout his life. From martial arts to guitar lessons, and even soaring through the skies in pursuit of his pilot’s license, his spirit of adventure knew no bounds. We recall the day he completed his first solo flight, gracefully landing in a farmer’s field. Although his pilot dreams reached their destination that day, his enthusiasm for life’s adventures continued. Golfing was a profound source of joy and patience for Wally. The golf course was not just a stretch of greens but a place where he created friendships and unforgettable memories.

Wally’s love for the great outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting. Elk, wild turkey, and more were pursued with the same group of friends throughout his adult life, creating bonds that stood the test of time. Wallace was an avid and gifted fly fisherman, with a deep passion for fishing steelhead where he found solace and joy in rivers including the Grand Ronde and John Day in Oregon, as well as the rivers near Forks, Washington. His fishing escapades extended, with cherished memories of bone fishing in Punta Allen, Mexico, as well as salmon fishing expeditions in Canada and Alaska.

He also had an adventurous traveling spirit. From Hong Kong to the wonders of Greece and Italy, he touched many corners of the globe. Closer to home, he found joy in places like New Orleans, Hawaii, Florida, and Palm Springs.

In the last seven years, Thailand became Wallace’s sanctuary—a place that brought him unparalleled happiness. His love for the people, culture, and landscapes of Thailand provided a sense of peace and fulfillment that resonated deeply within him

As you can tell, Dad had many hobbies and adventures, but his true passions were his family and dear friends. And while we are deeply saddened that we do not get to spend more time with him, we find solitude that he has joined friends and family that have gone before and will continue that adventure in the sky.

As we say our goodbyes, let us remember Wally for the vibrant and adventurous soul that he was. His legacy lives on in the memories we share, the stories we tell, and the lessons he imparted about living life to the fullest. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of the adventures he so passionately explored and may his soul find solace in the soil of Sweetgrass.

There will be a celebration of life this summer. Where we will gather to toast his amazing life.

Wally’s family kindly requests that you honor his memory by making a tribute in his name to a cause that holds significance to you. By contributing to a cause close to your heart, you not only celebrate Wallace’s legacy of compassion but also perpetuate the spirit of generosity and care that defined his life.
