Barbara Anderson (Kimmet) - Class Of 1963

Barbara Anderson Kimmet:    January 23, 1944 - April 5, 2018

Barbara Ann Kimmet of Shelby, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center surrounded by her adoring family.

Services will take place on Saturday, May 19, at St. William’s Catholic Church in Shelby, starting at 10 a.m.

Barbara was born Jan. 23, 1944, in Williston N.D., the daughter of Andy and Cecilia Anderson. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Kimmet, after he returned from serving in the Army on Jan. 18, 1964, at the Catholic Church in Sunburst.

Barbara grew up on the high plains of eastern Montana, she loved playing outside and riding horses when she was young. As she grew, in time, family and friends became the center of her life.

She loved spending time camping on the lake, waterskiing and spending time outdoors in her garden and flowerbeds. She was an American Water Ski Association senior scorer and judge with her husband, Bill. They traveled throughout Montana, Washington, Idaho and California in the summers to support their boys, who were competing in the water ski tournaments.

Barbara also loved classic cars, snowmobiling and would always jump at the chance to ride on a motorcycle or just take a drive.

Family and friends were Barbara’s passion; her kind heart was created to welcome people in to her life and was adept at making people feel like family. Barbara bartended in Shelby for over 25 years, her lovely smile and youthful charm welcomed locals and travelers alike and fostered many friendships.

Barbara will be lovingly missed by her siblings, Tom, Cathy, Danny, Andy and their spouses; her three boys, Billy, Joey and Shawn; and five grandchildren, Chris, Dannielle, Melanie, Lucas and Camilla. She was especially proud of her two great grandchildren, Curtis and Tucker. Barbara will also be missed by a number of close friends and relatives.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and two children, Ruth Cecelia and Robert James.
