In 74 I went to UM to get a degree in Music Ed, got married, took a 16 year break and then went feet first back into finishing my degree. I graduated in 94 (on the 20 year plan), and taught for 8 years in MT. In 2002 I needed to find a new job as mine was RIF'd and found I was going to have to leave the state if I wanted the job I was looking for. I found myself in Maryland, teaching for 3 years in Baltimore City. Inner city schools are very interesting. I am now in Anne Arundel County teaching about 15 miles south of the city. I love it and love living in the "burbs". My car getting broken into on my first day in the city was my "Welcome to Baltimore" greeting. You learn how to be aware of your surroundings living in the city.
I have been single for 4 plus years after 28 years of marriage.
In 2006 I became a grandma. Two boys about 3 months apart. Grammy wouldn't be braggins if she didn't say they are absolutely wonderful.
Two summers ago I began a masters program in Music Ed. It is a lot of work, 3 weeks of classes 9-5 everyday and tons of homework. It's going to be worth it. I'll be finished in three more summers.
My children are doing well. My two oldest are federal government employees. One with the State Department, the other with the Army. My middle daughter is a server at a fine dining steakhouse in Baltimore and my youngest is a student at UM studying to be an art teacher.
I like living in Maryland and remember the stories Jean Davis use to tell about Maryland. If anyone knows her address I'd love to get in touch with her. I can't say I'm a Ravens fan, but I do enjoy seeing the Orioles play. Or as they are frequently called the O's.

Update: 10/13/12: I finished my masters degree after many stressful days. I was in the middle of purchasing a house as I was finishing my thesis. I have a wonderful boyfriend, he was there for me all the way. After finishing my masters and buying a home, I now feel like I am a real grown up. LOL These were two accomplishments I never dreamed I would achieve. I also had loads of support from my siblings. Thanks, bro's and sisters.

Update 2016: I took my last class in April. It put me at 30 credits past my masters degree. This past school year I taught at three different schools. Fortunately I was at each one on a designated day. This coming year I will be at three schools again, closer to my home so no more fighting traffic. I have six years before the big "R", retirement.

Update 2023: The big “R” came on 1/1/22, rather than 7/1/23. It was time, I moved back to Missoula in July, 22. It is such a blessing to be near family again. I can spend time with my kids and grandkids living in the area. I dearly missed the mountains of Montana, and the North Country. Looking forward to traveling around the state and the PNW.

School Story:

My favorite memories are of the music festivals and the science fairs I attended.
When we were freshman we must have driven Ward Guthrie nuts with our antics while at State Music Festival in Great Falls.
I will never forget the time I fell over in my desk during Biology. I was trying to get my pencil, reached a bit too far and ended on my side in the desk. Thank goodness Larry didn't give me a hard time. Oh, and the time I left my science project back board in Missoula and it stayed there for a year. I did get a bit of razzing from Larry for that one.
I will always remember all the rehearsals and practices for various ensembles and quartets and of course drill team practice. One more thing: Brad Haugen told me to not let music school get too much and to have faith in myself. Thanks Brad.

50th Birthday at Cameron Resevoir. Diana and Mary Jane took me fishing. I caught one, just one. But it was fun.

It seems I caught another one, only not a fish, just a mucky shoe. I got too close to the water and sunk in muck up to my knee. Diana couldn't resist taking this picture. She couldn't stop laughing either.
