The reunion was super and the committee did a wonderful job. Great choice for the catering as the food was wonderful and lot of it Great Job. Was very suprized at how great the town was shined up. Was super to see alot of class mates which havent seen sence high school days.   Only disappointment was I wasent allowed to Put my truck in the car show My grand children was really looking foreward to it. Was told to move my truck out as there were alot of newer autos in there. Bad choice.

I have to concur with my Aunt Evelyn.  This Gottfried had a wonderful time at the reunion.  I came back to Maryland and told folks about this little town I grew up and went to school in hosting 1500 people and they were amazed.

I didn't get to see and visit with as many folks as I'd have liked, but this forum gives me a chance to continue staying in touch and I truly appreciate that.

Thank you to all who made this possible, your hours of work and devotion will never be forgotten.

Take care everyone.

Hi Refiners!   If you've never seen a man in total terror, go to Sharon Lawson Dill's photos and take a gander at my mug.  I never imagined my face betrayed the absolutely forlorn feeling I suffered at that moment.  Facing the awesome task and huge honor of introducing Diane Fauque's "NTCHS Memories" show, I felt entirely lost and hopeless.  None of the drafts I'd written seemed appropriate.  But, the good Lord carried me through, as He has so many times in my life.  Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm still flying high remembering every little detail of "the big shindig."  That fabulous weekend numbers among the top ten of my life.  Thanks again to everyone.  Joe

Thanks again to the reunion planners, what a wonderful event.   Such fun seeing so many friends & neighbors from the past years.

Lee & I are getting ready for our trip South to the Mexican Baja area for the winter.  Hope everyone has a nice easy winter & we'll be thinking of you as we play in the sun, sand, & surf.  Fern

Ona Roll passed away this week in Washington. A town a short distance from Anacortes, Washington where they moved when the refinery moved. She had spent the last 3 years in a Nursing Home. She was divorced with 2 boys who lived in N. D. and a daughter in Alaska. Jimmy Roll lives in Anacortes as does her sister Evelyn Treadwell and I am not sure where Ron Roll the other brother lives. They will have a Memorial on Tuesday in Anacortes.

Thank you, Linda, for the update about Ona Roll.  Ona was a Sweet Grass kid, and my prom date my freshman year.  The Roll family have all remained true blue friends through the years.  We share their loss, and we hope they take heart at this special season.  Christ's birthday is a time we can all celebrate, in the hope of that Great Reunion in His Kingdom.

The 2010 All-School reunion is fresh in my mind.  I consider it my best Christmas present this year.  So fantastic to have those precious days to renew old bonds, even if only for a few minutes with each cherished friend.  Thanks again to everyone, especially the citizens of Sunburst and all North Toole County for their painstaking organization, preparation and hospitality.  It went off like it was rehearsed a hundred times.

One more thing!  Please, please, Refiners!  Keep your profiles updated on the website.  Changes in address and e-mail service especially.  It only takes a minute to get on line and tell us all where and how you are.

Merry Christmas!!  And Happy New Year to all.

Sorry, Refiners, for leaving incomplete information.  Just checked my '58 Caprock to make certain; Ona Roll was in the NTCHS class of 1960, but she never registered on this website.  She moved to Anacortes in summer 1958 and graduated from high school there, another victim of the Texaco transfer.

Those of you that graduated after 1976 will no doubt remember Alan Ryan as the superintendant.   After his retirement several years ago, he remained in Sunburst.  We were all very saddened yesterday, Dec. 22, as he passed away very unexpectedly at his home.  He has had lung problems for several years and has been on oxygen for 3-4 years.  He used an electric cart to get around quite often.  So his health wasn't great, but nonetheless he had been doing well and had been out and about the day before being his usual humorous self.  We will sure miss him.  Rest in peace, Alan.

So Sorry to hear about Doris Meagher. We knew her so well as Kids when she and Joe had the store in Sunburst. I can see the smile on her Face

Terry Meagher (Meagher) (1954)

To those  North Toole County folks who are remembering our mother (Doris Meagher) with such kind thoughts and good memories:

Cremation has taken place.  There will be a memorial service at Hunters Pointe, 2801 Colonial Drive, in Helena on Saturday, April 30th at 3:00 pm with a luncheon to follow.  There will be a graveside service at the Cut Bank cemetery on Monday May 2nd at 10:00 am with a luncheon to follow at the Cut Bank Presbyterian Church.  Guests are invited to speak at either service.

We intend for her services to be more of a celebration of the way she lived her life rather than a sad affair.  She maintained her humor and positive outlook right up until the end even though her pain was getting progressively worse.  In her own words recently she gratefully said, "When I was a young girl I never dreamed I'd live so long or have such a good life and do all of the things that Joe and I did together."  She is now pain free, in a better place with the Lord, and reunited with the love of her life.  We are putting a slide show together on a DVD for the luncheon with several of her favorite songs she played on the piano as follows: Alley Cat, Mack the Knife, Boogie Woogie Blues, and Sentimental Journey.

Instead of flowers, any contributions are requested to be sent in her memory to Homes For Our Troops, 6 Main Street, Taunton, MA 02780.  They build specialty adapted homes at no cost for our returning severely injured troops.  Check out their website at homesforourtroops.org

Thanks,

Marcia Bragg, 1959, and Terry Meagher, 1954

Hi Everybody!  I enjoy looking through the Community Gallery pictures on this website so much, but I've noticed that there haven't been any new pictures added in quite a while.  So, how about getting those camera chips out of your cameras and share with all of us NTCHS'ers some more pic's of the fantastic Sunburst Refiner All Class Reunion of 2010?   Thanks!  - Wendy Paisley Olson - Class of 1974

I have been remembering the wonderful time I had last year in Sunburst at the reunion. It was one of the best things I have ever done in my entire life and will have this memory forever! Enjoy seeing friends I had not seen in 50 years! It was dream to someday get to return and I am thrilled I was able to fulfill that dream. Thanks to Nancy (Ehli) for showing myself and my friend all of our all stomping grounds. So glad I got to visit with Melvin & Wava Danbrook & their family. I spent a great deal of time with them when I was in Sweetgrass! Also visiting with the Premos was another one of my highlights. Eveyln Treadwell (Roll) and her husband! I had visited Evelyn in Anacorters in 98 or 99 seeing her, Ona, Jimmy, Ronnie! Thanks to all who worked so hard putting the reunion together!

Any truth to the rumor of a reunion of some sort in 2014?

01/31/14 09:26 AM #81

Linda Carol Shure (Williams) (1968)

Did I hear the rumor right..? Is there going to be another reunion in 2014...?  Be sure to let me know ? I was so upset to have missed the last one... Keep me posted...?

Alan Gilchrist (1970)

I missed my 10-year reunion, and my 20-year reunion, and finally, this all-year reunion in 2010, as well... but that was because my son chose the previous weekend to get married across the continent, in Florida, and it just was not to be, that I be in two places at once.  C'est la vie.  So, if you have the chance to 'Play it again, Sam...' then 'Make it so...'

Retired, and disabled, today, I don't think I'll be able to do much, any more.  But it is a worthy thing, for everyone to seriously consider doing, again.  So, best of luck to everyone, and if you have the chance to attend... don't neglect it!

Hulo! Hulo!  (Just practicing my Hawaiian there. . . . )   Kudos to the folks who are putting together the 2016 reunion!  It's already on the calendar and I'm working on some of the "no-shows" from last time (like my hillbilly brother who can manage to travel to New Zealand and Iceland.)

Jennifer (Jan) Jansky (Dahlgaard) (1967)

Great new set up Korey!   It is on my calendar for 2016.  I think adding cards is great.  Just having a list of people willing to play would be helpful.  Nice way to spend time and visit with a smaller group.

Hope the people who came before show up and with us new ones maybe the town will swell to 2016!

Hey, Refiners!  Help!  The 1958 upheaval at NTCHS when Texaco moved 105 families away has resulted in a number of "missing" students.  I've noticed especially the abbreviated 1960 class roster.  In comparing Caprocks from 1957 and 1958 with our website, I count 15 students unlisted.  Since our intent is to include everyone who attended NTCHS, I seek your help in locating them. Three, I believe, have passed on:  Betty Aschim, Ona Roll, and Oliver Sonju.  The remaining "missing" are:  Sid Clarke, Dennis Dean, Stanley Evans, Gail Ganter, Karen Gillespie, Sharon Gillespie, Ida Hawkes, Doug Miner, Debbie Newmiller, Robert "Fig" Newton, Julie Salgren, and Leland Steinbrenner.  I suggest it is proper that we add these folks to the Class of 1960 roster.  And, let's all encourage any Refiners who have not yet registered or recently updated their profiles to do so.  The 2010 gathering was phenomenal.  Let's make 2016 even bigger!  Thanks!

Note added by Marv Alme, '61, on 5 Feb 2015

Thanks, as always, for the notes on missing members of the class of 60, Joe.

I've added them.

A major website function that  I (Marv Alme) am responsible for is posting obituaries.  Given the recent surge in website activity due to the 2016 reunion, I intend to put out a note in the near future asking for any inputs on obituaries, but I'll use this opportunity to ask for inputs as well.  In general it's easier to find material if the month, year, and residence is known to me.   It is especially useful to have the married name for female classmates.  If you send e-mail to the site webmaster it gets copied to me, or you can send it directly to my gmail address which is marv.223  [add the "at gmail dot com"]
